I took the scenic route to becoming a vet, studying mixed farming at Oatridge Agricultural college before getting a zoology degree from Edinburgh and a veterinary degree from London. Since becoming a vet, I have gradually worked my way down Scotland starting on the Moray coast and returning home to the Borders having grown up in Duns.

I am happiest in mixed practice seeing a variety of pets, farm animals and horses, as reflected in my personal life, with two cats, a collie dog and currently a flock of Hebridean sheep and herd of Shetland ponies who are regular competitors in the local sheep shows and driving trials.
